Maojiang Su

Hi, I’m Maojiang Su — a second-year PhD student in Computer Science at Northwestern University. My research focuses on building AI systems that generalize across goals, constraints, and environments. I pursue two main directions: AI for science and embodied intelligence. In AI for science, I develop models for molecular and biological design under novel scientific objectives. In embodied intelligence, I study agents that act reliably across tasks and physical environments. My methodological interests include generative modeling, decision-making, reinforcement learning, and control. A central goal of my research is to translate pretrained knowledge into effective behavior guided by new objectives and feedback. I’m fortunate to join the MAGICS Lab, where I am advised by Prof. Han Liu.
